For Constant Readers, we had been dealing with Walter (in various forms) throughout the DT series, The Stand, and the Eye of the Dragon. This WAS a bad-ass villain who thought he had it all thought out. O'Dim was even cocky enough to assume that he could control the spawn of Roland/Crimson King. I think was a reiterating of a common life theme.
