The Republic F-84 Thunderjet was an American turbojet fighter-bomber aircraft. Originating as a 1944 United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) proposal for a "day fighter", the F-84 first flew in 1946.

The Republic F-84F Thunderstreak was designed and manufactured by Republic Aviation as a swept-wing turbojet fighter bomber in the United States. It first flew in June 1950 and entered service in May 1954. The aircraft served with the United States Air Force, as well as other air forces in Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.

The F-84F was built with a crew member under a light-frame canopy behind the nose air intake. The overall length of the fuselage is 43.4 feet, with a wingspan of 33.7 feet and a height of 14.4 feet. The curb weight is close to 14,000 pounds, and the MTOW is 28,000 pounds.

Evolved from the straight-wing F-84, the F-84F prototype first flew in June 1950. Deliveries began in 1954, with most of the aircraft going to the Tactical Air Command as a ground support fighter bomber. Republic built 2,112 F-84Fs while General Motors fabricated 599 more. That's what I hope for, USAF F-84Fs have worn somecolourful schemes and the potential for foreign schemes is quite good too Have to say though that similar releases don't seem to have generated much interest by the decal manufacturers, Sword's own RF-84F would have been a perfect candidate for some interesting decal sheet and yet nobody seems to have jumped on it.

The swept-wing Republic F-84F Thunderstreak evolved from the straight-wing F-84 Thunderjet. The "F" model incorporated such aerodynamic improvements as swept back wings, due to the success of the North American Aviation F-86 Sabre.It also featured improved tail and elevator surfaces, a smaller canopy and a redesigned windscreen.
